The Black Breastfeeding Blog was created by Jennifer James as a way to reach black mothers who are currently breastfeeding or who want to breastfeed in the future. As a former breastfeeding mother of two daughters (who she breastfed for two years each), Jennifer believes in the powerful healing properties of breast milk and believes all black moms should at least start the nursing process to increase the health of their babies.

Another Breastfeeding Mom Sues

I detest writing about breastfeeding mothers who sue! In my mind they are no different than anyone else who feels they've been wronged in some way and then unleash their attorneys, so what's the big deal?

If you haven't heard, a Florida mom is currently suing Ruby Tuesday because she alleges a manager treated her and her nursling like they had no place amongst the regular populace. For the record, I hope more and more mothers sue the heck out of local businesses and corporations because mothers have the right to be able to feed their children without people acting like their sexual deviants.

While reading more about this story I have to say I am feeling a little discouraged today. You should read some of the comments people are spewing about this poor woman. Based on some perspectives I can tell we have a loooong way to go before breastfeeding mothers can nurse again in public without some people going into hysterics.

Here are a few that caught my eye.

Reading this huge debate just makes me work that much harder to get this book written. I think the nation should know breastfeeding in public was once normal.

I'm glad she's sueing, but sad that it seems to be so bleepin' necessary. You go with the book - we need it.
