lthough it is generally assumed that Americans gain five or more pounds during the holidays, there are no real studies to support that claim. Researchers do say, however, that the average American gains about one pound between Thanksgiving and New Years. One pound doesn’t sound like a lot to most. And, in all honesty, it’s not especially now that Nike has developed sports gear specifically for women’s fitness needs, making it easier for women to whip themselves back into shape after two straight months of turkey and hors d'oeuvres.
In early November, Nike announced the launch of its first national catalog for women. Featuring a full selection of Nike Women's products, this catalog will focus on helping the active woman not only learn more about Nike's product innovation, but the best way to achieve her fitness goals. The 56-page catalog will feature a full line of apparel, footwear and equipment products essential for today's active women and will be mailed 11 times per year in the United States.
Elite and everyday female athletes will showcase the best of Nike's women's Holiday 2004 line from innovative performance running, footwear, and apparel to gym basics for all types of workout classes.
The new catalog complements Nike's marketing efforts on both the internet and it's highly popular nikewomen stores, serving as both inspiration and education. "We have always enjoyed a strong relationship with women, said Elliott Hill, Nike's Vice-President of USA Commerce. "We continue to deliver innovative products that meet the unique needs of women athletes. Now with our new
nikewomen's catalog, we are deepening that relationship and making it easier for her to shop our brand and learn about our newest performance products."
The catalog will focus on yoga, training and running products. The collection will highlight several Nike technologies including NikeSphere apparel and Nike Shox footwear in a range of style-conscious colors.
Nike's catalog efforts continue its support of its retail partners, serving as an additional vehicle to learn more about women consumers. Catalog purchases will also be supported online at nikewomen.com and in nikewomen stores. Anyone interested in receiving a catalog is invited to call 1-888-599-6453 or visit nikewomen.com to request acatalog or find a nikewomen store location.
