Yuwanda Black
Yuwanda Black is a serial entrepreneur. She owns and operates EthnicHomeDecor.com and its subsidiary, EthnicVendors.com. A third site, EthnicGiftBaskets.com, is slated to go live this fall. Ms. Black's current project is an ethnic gift magazine, which will be published in early November. She states, "My mission is to make ethnic gift-giving and decorating mainstream."
Yuwanda writes a syndicated small business column, EntrepreDoer, which focuses on the problems and concerns of "micropreneurs." It has been published by newspapers and e-zines nationwide, including, Greater Diversity News; The Mississippi Link; The New York Christian Times; Houston Style; Caribbean Life; and UrbanVoicesOnline.com; among others. She is thrilled to add MommyToo! as an outlet.
Ms. Black states that although she became a full-time business owner in 1997, she has always maintained some type of side business. "Entrepreneurship runs in my family, so I've always found it impossible to have 'just' a job."
Holding an AA in English and a BA in Sociology, to satisfy her long-running interest in criminal justice, she is currently pursing an MA at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.
